Welcome to the English Brothers web site one of the most established companies in East Anglia. In fact, our roots date back to 1844 when the company imported timber to the UK via the River Nene in the historic town of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire and today we are based just outside the town.
Within this site you’ll find an overview of some of the products we sell to the trade and DIY enthusiast direct from our factory store.
We supply everything from timber, roof joists, posi-joists and sheet materials to fencing and decking as well as garden furniture and log cabins – not forgetting gates, some of which are hand-made to the same designs they were over 100 years ago.
As far as timber sales is concerned, English Brothers is virtually unique. We have a comprehensive machine workshop, meaning we can cut timber to your own requirements. This saves the trade time on site and the DIY enthusiast an awful lot of effort!
Timber Treatment
Thanks to our treatment facility, we can also protect your timber using pressure treatment, our products aren’t dip treated. Ideal for timber exposed to the elements or even submersed.
Fencing
Our fencing is all handmade using quality timber. You’ll find our panels stronger and more rigid than most. They are all pressure treated, not dipped, for superior protection. We also stock posts, rails, gravel boards and feather edge boards.
Gates
Our gates are handmade in our workshops by skilled craftsmen. The field gates are designed to be robust and are ideal for agricultural use. All field gates are made with a sawn finish but you still have a choice of a planed finish if you prefer. All entrance gates have a planed finish. We always recommend you opt for treated timber but the choice is yours. We now stock an economy, off the shelf, range of timber gates.
Sheds
Ox and Walton sheds are a premium range garden shed designed and handmade by English Brothers Ltd. All the timber used is a high quality pressure treated whitewood and redwood. The timber we use is much thicker than you will find on most sheds. We manufacture the Walton and Ox to our standard pattern but if you would like your shed a little different from our standard we can often accommodate your needs. Why not be different and opt for a coloured Coroline roof instead of the standard felt. They come ready to assemble with instructions. Quick and easy to erect.
Decking
Our own design decking is manufactured using high quality timber and pressure treated for extra durability. We also stock rails, spindles and newel posts for the finishing touches to your decked area.
Roof Trusses & Posi-Joists (metal web joists)
We have the latest and most advanced software to create detailed, accurate quotes for your project – and we aim to do so as quickly as possible.
Our timber engineering department can provide you with:
- Attic roof trusses
- Standard roof trusses
- Mono trusses
In addition to roof trusses, we have also invested in the latest technology to allow us to design and manufacture metal-web joists (also known as posi-joists) with a fast turn-around time.
